Our program · Infants to 7 years

A program crafted for your child. Infants to 7 years.

We don't sort childhood into boxes. Every child at A Little World receives one-on-one, age-appropriate lessons and an individually crafted program that meets them exactly where they are — from infancy all the way to first-grade readiness.

How it works

One little world, growing with your child

Montessori was never meant to be an assembly line of age groups. In our mixed-age community, babies watch toddlers, toddlers imitate preschoolers, and the oldest children lead — exactly the way families and real life work.

Because each child's program is crafted around them, there are no jarring "room changes" or new enrollments as your child grows. The environment, materials, and one-on-one lessons simply evolve around them — and the teachers who knew them at two still greet them by name at five.

  • From 6 weeks — gentle, responsive care with individual feeding and nap rhythms for our littlest ones.
  • Growing independence — practical life, toilet learning, and first Montessori materials, at each child's own pace.
  • The full curriculum — reading, writing, math, science, and world cultures as children become ready.
  • To age 7 — graduates leave us confident, curious, and ready for kindergarten or first-grade entry.

Step inside our little world

A short film from our school — the classrooms, the garden, and the days your child will spend here.

A day with us

The daily rhythm, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Days follow a steady, reassuring pattern — children thrive on knowing what comes next. The youngest follow their own schedules for feeds and naps, always.

7:00 – 8:30 AM

Arrival & early care

A calm, unhurried welcome — coats on hooks (all by myself!), quiet activities, and breakfast-club coziness while the school wakes up.

8:30 – 11:00 AM

The morning work cycle

The heart of the Montessori day: a long, protected stretch of freely chosen work — pouring and puzzles for little hands, sandpaper letters and golden beads for bigger ones — with individual lessons woven in.

11:00 AM

Circle time

Songs, stories, movement, calendar, and celebrations from every culture in our community.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Outdoor play & lunch

Large motor activities, outdoor games, water tables, garden jobs, and tortoise visits — then lunch together, family-style.

1:00 – 3:00 PM

Rest & quiet time

Naps for those who need them; quiet work and books for those who've outgrown them.

3:00 – 6:00 PM

Afternoon enrichment & pickup

Music, yoga, art, and outdoor play in after-care — with warm handoffs and day recaps whenever you arrive.

From first steps to first grade

The same little world, at every age

A baby napping on their own rhythm. A two-year-old triumphantly pouring water. A four-year-old sounding out their first word. A graduate in a tiny cap and gown, ready for anything.

It's all one story here — same center, same educators, same philosophy — which is why families who join us at 6 weeks are still with us at graduation.

  • Mixed-age community — children learn side by side, like a family.
  • Toilet learning support — handled gently, in partnership with home.
  • Field trips & festivals — Tilden Park adventures and cultural celebrations all year.
  • Kindergarten & 1st-grade readiness — our graduates leave confident and curious.
Before & after care included in our day: We're open 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, so drop-off and pickup work around real jobs — not the other way around. Full-time and part-time schedules available.
